Sylvan Learning Center, the nation's leading provider of educational services, seeks a part-time, Spanish speaking, teacher. At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Pre-kindergarten through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence, providing them with skills that will last a lifetime. We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our Burbank learning center, experienced in the following:

• MATH (up to Algebra 2 or beyond)
• READING/WRITING (up to 12th grade)
• TEST PREP (with training).

As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are: Teaching and building rapport with students. NO LESSON PLANS!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Supervise, interact with, and motivate students
• Reward students for completed assignments
• Evaluate and document student progress
• Communicate student needs to the center director
• Inspire and develop a rapport with students
• Establish a fun learning environment
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

REQUIREMENTS

• Four year degree or equivalent
• State or provincial teaching credentials (preferred)
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (preferred)
• Spanish speaking preferred

* ALL TEACHERS:

• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension up to 5th grade
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic up to 5th grade

* MATH TEACHERS:

* Knowledge of mathematics up to and beyond Algebra 2, Calculus, and Statistics

* READING TEACHERS:

* Knowledge of phonics, comprehension, and writing practices up to 12th grade Compensation: $19-$21/hour
