The Position: The Web Designer is responsible for creating intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing digital experiences, ads, and images that inspire and delight our consumers. Responsibilities include revamping the eCommerce platform to enriching our recipes and baking resources, the Web Designer's designs are essential in bringing the mission to life and inspiring bakers around the world.

The Location: Hybrid combining working from home, and onsite in White River Junction VT roughly 3 days per quarter. Ideal candidates will be located within a 2-3-hour drive of our offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Digital Design: Design visually compelling experiences, ads, and images that align with King Arthur's brand guidelines and provide a seamless, user-centric experience across all devices and digital platforms including email, web, mobile app, and social media.
  • Wireframing & Prototyping: Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and mockups that effectively communicate design ideas to stakeholders.
  • Optimization: Optimize user flows for purchasing, product discovery, and exploration. Enhance website experiences for consumers coming to our website for recipes and baking resources. Optimizes images for web deployments while preserving design integrity.
  • Light Front-end Development: Build web pages and implement designs using existing modules in Drupal and BigCommerce, applying knowledge of HTML and CSS. Collaborate with the Web team to execute more complex, code-intensive projects.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), Digital Marketing, Web, Brand and Editorial, to align digital experiences with company goals.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate design concepts, rationale, and user-centered design principles.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and creativity.
  • Accessibility: Ensure all designs are accessible, adhering to WCAG standards and inclusive design principles.

Experience and Education

  • 5+ years of professional design experience, preferably in eCommerce or large consumer-facing websites.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong ability to manage digital projects from conception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
  • Solid understanding of digital design best practices, responsive design, and user experience (UX); demonstrated knowledge of HTML/CSS or basic web development skills is preferred.
  • Experience working with eCommerce platforms (BigCommerce, Shopify, etc) and design systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong design skills and a focus on user experience is required.
  • BA/BFA in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Visual Arts, or a related field is preferred.

  • Understanding of Branding: Awareness of the King Arthur brand identity and marketing objectives to align the content accordingly.
