What You’ll Do

\n

As a Respiratory Therapist at UPMC Cole, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients with cardiopulmonary conditions. Your responsibilities will include:

\n

· Evaluating medical orders and interpreting clinical data to guide treatment

\n

· Operating and adjusting ventilators, oxygen therapy systems, and aerosol delivery devices

\n

· Monitoring patient responses and performing diagnostic tests

\n

· Assisting with emergency situations and transporting ventilated patients

\n

· Educating patients and mentoring students or new staff

\n

· Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring equipment safety

\n \n

· You must be a  graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (approved by CoARC).

\n

· OR if you're a student with a  temporary license , you can start working  with HR approval and official transcripts .

\n

· You need to have  Basic Life Support (BLS)or  CPR certification that includes both classroom and hands-on training.

\n

· You must earn your  Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT)credential from the  National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)   before your temporary permit expires .

\n

· If you received your CRTT  after July 1, 2002 , you’ll need to  keep your certification up to date according to NBRC requirements.

\n

*RRTs and CRTs will be considered. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based his/her individual experience, education, and certifications.

\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

\n

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
\n
• Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
\n
• Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
\n
• Act 33 with renewal
\n
• Act 34 with renewal
\n
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
\n
