Procurement Expeditor Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for keeping operations running smoothly? As an Expeditor, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring that materials flow seamlessly from manufacturers to project locations. Your expertise in tracking shipments, verifying materials, and coordinating logistics will help drive efficiency and keep projects on schedule.
General Description The Expeditor will oversee the timely transfer of materials, thoroughly inspect received shipments, verify part numbers, and identify discrepancies such as damage or missing labels. This role ensures that materials align with work ticket specifications for accurate assignment.
Duties - Coordinates shipments from manufacturers to project locations, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
- Supports the procurement of missing or damaged materials and facilitates the return of surplus and scrap materials
- Assists the Procurement Lead with weekly and monthly reporting, offering insights for process improvements
- Manages document transmittals, uploads to the document management system, and retrieves important records
- Facilitates routine calls with manufacturers, maintaining detailed meeting minutes for tracking progress
- Oversees the collection, retention, and distribution of quality documents related to major materials
- Maintains regular communication with Material Yard Leads to confirm material availability when required
- Assists the Project Controller and Procurement Lead in preparing purchase orders and reconciling invoices
- Adheres to company standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Takes on special projects and additional responsibilities as needed
Required Experience and Education - Entry level/supply chain background and degree, or industry experience.
Ideally supply chain degree and industry experience (1 yr+). - Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, MS Word
Preferred Experience and Education - Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field
- 2 years of experience as an Expeditor within the transmission/distribution sector
- Familiarity with J.D. Edwards ERP System
Skills - Self-starter with the ability to work independently while actively supporting team needs
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Travel Requirements - Travel: Yes
- Percent of Time: Up to 10%
