Since 1891, Engert Mechanical has served the Knoxville and East Tennessee communities in Plumbing, HVAC and Mechanical Piping. We are growing our team! Engert is looking for reliable individuals who have experience in commercial and industrial plumbing and piping.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair various types of HVAC systems including ductwork, piping and low voltage wiring connections.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other installers to complete installations on schedule.
• Ensure all equipment is installed according to local codes and manufacturer specifications.
• Test systems after installation to ensure they operate efficiently.
• Install and connect refrigeration piping for the proper circulation of refrigerants, ensuring all connections are leak-free and systems are safely pressurized.
• Startup assistance with HVAC equipment.
• Installation of interlock wiring for makeup air, exhaust fans and hoods.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to use hand tools and operate electric and/or battery powered tools.
• Ability to listen, understand and follow directions.
• Skills at collaborating with diverse personalities.
• Skilled in managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and across multiple teams and levels within and outside of the organization and take initiative on projects.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Basic math skills
• Valid Driver’s License

Education & Experience:

• Completion of an HVAC training program or apprenticeship preferred
• 4+ years’ experience as an HVAC installer or technician is required.
• Familiarity with various HVAC systems, tools, and equipment.
• EPA certification (preferred but not required).
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
• Additional certifications (e.g. OSHA, first aid) preferred

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

• Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy materials (up to 40 pounds)
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions
• Ability to perform tasks requiring balance, strength, and stamina.
• The role demands prolonged standing, walking, bending, and the ability to work in confined or elevated spaces.
• Ability to work at various elevations from ladders, scaffolding and lifts.
