Position Summary The Conservation Program Manager will be an integral member of the Greenwich Center and Audubon CT/NY teams. They will be responsible for building partnerships, engaging the network, and implementing community conservation programs that align with and provide opportunities for participants to take actions that help achieve Audubons strategic plan milestones for Habitat, Climate, Policy, and Community Building. Working closely with community partners and volunteers, the Conservation Program Manager will develop and deliver dynamic, high quality, and integrated environmental interpretation and education programs about bird conservation, habitat restoration, and conservation science programs in the Greenwich region. This is a full-time position, generally with a schedule of Sundays - Thursdays, 9:00am-5:00pm, but those hours can vary considerably based on the program and project schedule. Evening hours will occasionally be necessary. The position requires outdoor activity, hiking in varied terrain, and strong presentation skills. Some programs will be off-site. The role includes serving as summer camp director, managing the Eco Leadership Corps for high school students, creating and managing volunteer programs, and leading school programs. Most activities will take place at the Greenwich Center, reaching diverse age groups. Candidates should approach community engagement thoughtfully and seek projects aligned with the Centers goals, community needs, and Audubons mission. The role also oversees front desk operations, including managing the Senior Center Assistant. Compensation $65,000 - $73,000 / year Essential Functions Design and implement community-based conservation programs; organize relevant programs, partnerships, and projects; promote and deliver education programs, ensuring alignment with Audubons content and DEI principles. Develop a year-round volunteer program engaging diverse activities and audiences; lead recruitment, promotion, and marketing efforts. Manage the Eco Leadership Corps program: hire and train staff, develop projects, coordinate travel, and oversee capstone projects. Collaborate with staff on organizational goals; coordinate programs, exhibits, guest lectures, and school activities. Supervise the Senior Center Assistant, establishing work objectives and providing mentorship. Serve as Camp Director: oversee summer camp marketing, curriculum, registration, operations, and compliance. Write/update job descriptions, hire and train camp staff, and act as main contact for parents. Coordinate front desk operations and maintain the Greenwich Center calendar. Ensure facilities are prepared for visitors and programs. Participate in staff meetings, planning, and team activities, including all-staff retreats and workdays. Maintain a culture of safety. Provide care and enrichment for exhibit animals. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience Bachelors degree in Conservation, Biological Sciences, Environmental Interpretation, Education, or related field. 5+ years experience in grassroots advocacy, conservation, or education programs for diverse audiences. Experience with camps and curriculum development is a plus. Knowledge of bird and wildlife conservation, natural history, and environmental science. Commitment to the Societys mission. Experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and coordinating teams. Strong problem-solving, self-motivation, and detail orientation. Leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate volunteers and partners; experience working with various age groups. Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills. Willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, AED certifications. Ability to traverse trails, lift up to 50 lbs., and possess a valid drivers license. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
