Responsibilities include leading and executing purchasing supply management activities for all categories and subcategories, developing cost reduction strategies, nurturing stakeholder relationships, driving reduced total cost of ownership, representing Abbott strategically, leading initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, and providing insights on supplier capabilities. The role requires managing procurement plans and strategies, leading projects with global impact, managing PO approvals up to $2,000,000, developing supplier KPIs, driving value and savings, collaborating with matrix organizations, and leading change and innovation. The Category Manager defines category procurement strategy, drives total cost of ownership reductions, coordinates across functions, negotiates portfolios, manages supplier relationships, and leads project teams. The position includes people leadership responsibilities such as recruiting, mentoring, and training talent, and ensuring compliance with policies. The role operates with goals set by senior leadership and impacts budgets and project completion. Required qualifications include a BA or equivalent experience (MBA preferred), 3+ years in procurement and supply chain management, certifications like CPSM or CPM desirable, 5-8 years of procurement/category experience, strong project management and people skills, excellent communication, and knowledge of category technologies and products. The base pay ranges from $97,300 to $194,700, with possible variation by location.
