The West Coast creative team at Weber Shandwick is growing and we’re looking for an idea-generating, out-of-the-box thinking, earned-first copywriter to join our award-winning crew.

We’re in the business of making our clients’ brands famous, with in-culture work that makes a mark and gets people talking. The brands and briefs run the gamut. You’ll lead ideation and work hand-in-hand with our creative teams to craft breakthrough ideas that demand attention out in the world. Point is, you’ll be a doer AND a driver that pushes the work forward. And you’ll need to talk, sell, and win over clients.

What You Will Be Doing

1. Developing and delivering creative ideas that make our clients and their brands famous
2. Generating breakthrough work that can live across platforms — and inspiring others to do the same
3. Delivering a broad range of projects: Social posts, creative narratives, product copy, video scripts, and more
4. Backing up your work with smart, strategic choices
5. Guiding, teaching, and mentoring junior members of the team while promoting an inclusive environment
6. Staying looped in with team leadership for temp checks, alignment, and guidance
7. Collaborating seamlessly with creatives and other teams throughout the network
8. Questioning, pushing, and providing feedback on briefs and asks with our Strategy, Client Experience, and Integrated Media teams

Qualifications

1. 5+ years of experience in a creative role with experience managing a creative team (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations)
2. Must be self-motivated, hardworking, well-organized, thick skinned, and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables; must not be afraid to confront problems
3. Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, cultural trends, and philosophies in marketing, technology, earned ideas, and social media
4. Excellent presentation and communication abilities, internal and externally
5. A clear understanding of what an “earned idea” is
6. Strong ability to provide clear creative perspective and timely, helpful feedback to improve creative processes and to keep work on budget/schedule; be aware of your deadlines and how to get there
7. Ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs
8. Proven mentoring and team-building skills
9. Experience leading creative for large brands is preferred

[California/Washington] Salary range: $121,000 – $155,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
